BEREA, Ohio – Carson Gilbertson, 2024-25 team captain and a building block for the turnaround of the Macomb Cross Country and Track & Field programs, raced for the final time as a Monarch on Friday (May 9) at Baldwin Wallace University's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet.
Gilbertson wrapped up his junior college career by competing in the 5K event alongside
Jack DeWaele and
Dylan Penberthy. Penberthy finished as the top Monarch in the event at 15:43, DeWaele checked in at 16:25 and Gilberston posted a time of 16:59. The times for Penberthy and DeWaele were new personal bests in the event.
Lucas Shemansky set a new PR in the 800m with a sub-2:00 time of 1:59.65 and
Brandon Penberthy notched a PR of his own in the 3000m steeplechase after crossing the finish line at 10:31.48.
Mathieu Fortier was the lone other Monarch in the steeplechase and checked in with a time of 11:37.46.
Preston Corneillie rounded out Friday's results with a 4:45.17 in the 1500m.
