What a season it was under then first-year head coach
Hassan Nizam in 2021-22! The Monarchs took home the program's first MCCAA Championship and won their first MCCAA Conference Championship in nearly 30 years. In all, the Monarchs went 25-5 overall and 13-3 in the MCCAA East and sent four players on to the next level.
BACK FOR YEAR TWO
Hassan Nizam is back for year two leading the Macomb Men's Basketball program after a highly-successful first season that ended with a MCCAA Championship and MCCAA Eastern Conference Championship. The pair of titles led to several honors for Nizam, including three Coach of the Year awards (BCAM Junior College, MCCAA and MCCAA Eastern Conference).

MONARCHS MOVING ON
The Monarchs had four players move on to four-year programs from last season's team. John Ukomadu, last year's Conference Defensive Player of the Year, is at NCAA D1 Eastern Kentucky, while Jiovanni Miles is at NCAA D2 Saginaw Valley. Tariq Humes went to Miami to play at Florida Memorial while Delano Williams is at Siena Heights.
QUITE THE JAMBOREE SEASON
While records over the course of the jamboree season don't count, the Monarchs put together quite the resume over the offseason by going 18-3 in their "exhibition campaign" that featured games against top competition in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.
TWO FIRST-YEAR TEAMS AHEAD
The 2022-23 season will get underway Tuesday (Nov. 1) when the Monarchs host the Lions of Detroit Community Christian College at 7:30 p.m.. On Friday (Nov. 4), the Monarchs will battle the Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan College at the Lake Michigan Showcase. The Lions will play for the first time ever, while the Roadrunners will tip it off for the first time in 26 years in the week ahead.
A LOOK AT: LAKE MICHIGAN
The Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College welcome the Monarchs to their Benton Harbor campus for the Red Hawk Showcase Nov. 4-5. The Monarchs will play Southwestern Michigan first on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Lake Michigan Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The Red Hawks, 11-18 overall (8-10 MCCAA West) in 2021-22, return two of their top three scorers from a season ago.
PRESEASON NO. 7
After climbing as high as No. 6 in last year's rankings, Macomb Men's Basketball will start the 2022-23 campaign No. 7 in the country after receiving 84 votes in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Poll. The No. 7 ranking positions the Monarchs as the highest ranked team in the MCCAA and NJCAA Region XII entering the season.
