BY THE NUMBERS: 2
Now that's how you make your MCCAA Eastern Conference debut! Freshman infielder/designated player Sydney Urban went off in the Monarchs' MCCAA East opening doubleheader at Schoolcraft and led the way in the road sweep with her first two (2) collegiate home runs to go along with two (2) doubles and six RBI!

BY THE NUMBERS: 32
Speaking of Macomb Softball's sweep at Schoolcraft... The Monarchs erupted for a pair of convincing wins, the first by a 13-1 tally and the latter by a 19-7 final as the team combined to plate 32 runs in the run rule victories. The 32 run effort was the most scored in a league doubleheader since the Monarchs put up 33 in a sweep at SC4 last season.

AHEAD THIS WEEK
Rain is in the forecast but we remain hopeful over here that the Monarchs will finally be able to host their 2024 Home Opener this week! The Monarchs are slated to host Oakland CC (OCC) on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. and later welcome Mott to Warren for a Friday twin bill at 3 p.m. The Monarchs finish the week at Marysville City Park vs. SC4, first pitch is 1 p.m.

BALANCE AT THE PLATE
Let's take a look at a few offensive leaders following last week's 32-run outburst. Sophomore speedster Savanna Clark has swiped 12 bags to go along with her team-leading .563 average and 12 runs scored, while Haley Mitchell (.458) and Carleigh Bilpo (.429) follow with batting averages above .400. Sydney Urban leads the extra-base hit department with eight (2 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR) and Ally Prasnjak follows with seven (3 2B, 4 3B).

VOGT LEADS THE ARMS
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Allison Vogt was in control last week in the Monarchs' 13-1 win over Schoolcraft. Vogt struck out seven Ocelots and only allowed one run on four hits to move to 2-2 on the season and lift her strikeout total to a team-best 23. Grace Dzikowski leads the team in wins (3) and is second in strikeouts (21).

A DIFFERENT STYLE
With five more stolen bases last week, the Monarchs' season total is up to 30 (30-36) through 12 games played. In comparison, the Monarchs swiped a total of 31 bases last season (in 42 games), 24 in 2022 and 28 the year prior. The Monarchs' highest stolen bases total since Jim Beard took over eight seasons ago is 53, a mark set in 2018.

A LOOK AT: OCC
Like the Monarchs, the new-look Raiders of Oakland Community College are faced with the task of replacing some of their best hitters in program history. The Raiders enter the week with a 1-1 record in league play and 2-9 overall after splitting their lone league doubleheader with SC4 last week. The Raiders are slated to begin a busy week ahead with a league doubleheader in Warren on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

A LOOK AT: MOTT
The Mott Community College Bears enter the season as one of the league favorites and currently own a 10-6 overall record and a 2-0 mark in MCCAA East play after sweeping Schoolcraft Monday afternoon. The Bears boast a balanced lineup that features the returning tandem of Taryn Murphy and Claire Oulette and have put up a team batting average of .341, second in all of the MCCAA only to SC4, the Monarchs third opponent of the week.

A LOOK AT: SC4
The Skippers of St. Clair County Community College (SC4) check in with an 8-10 record overall and are currently 3-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference after sweeping Henry Ford Monday afternoon. The Skippers are balanced offensively and have racked up a MCCAA-best .346 batting average at the time of this release.
