BY THE NUMBERS: 35
What a way to end the week! Macomb Softball erupted for 21 runs on 23 hits in a 21-8 run rule win over SC4 on Saturday (March 30) in Marysville. The 21-run outburst came a day after the Monarchs posted 12 runs on 12 hits in a win over Mott to bring their total over the past two contests to 33 runs on
35 hits while moving to 6-1 in league play!
BY THE NUMBERS: 9
Speaking of all the hits and runs scored over the past two games, the Monarchs have made quite the statement over the first 17 games of the 2024 campaign. Through 17 games, the Monarchs are a perfect
9-0 when out-hitting their opponent and have won once when being out-hit by the competition (1-5). The Monarchs are 0-2 when hits are tied.
AHEAD THIS WEEK
Rain is in the forecast once again but we remain hopeful that the Monarchs will get their games in this week! The Monarchs are slated to host Henry Ford on Tuesday (April 2) for a twin bill at 3 p.m. before traveling to OCC's Highland Lakes Campus for two games on Friday at 3 p.m. The Monarchs will wrap up the week with a home doubleheader vs. Schoolcraft on Saturday at 1 p.m.
BALANCED OFFENSIVELY
Time to take a look at a few offensive leaders through 17 games!
Savanna Clark leads the team with a .500 average and 14 stolen bases, while
Ally Prasnjak follows with a .444 average and a team-best .907 SLG% thanks to three home runs and team-leading marks in doubles (8) and triples (4).
Sydney Urban leads the home run department with four, while
Carleigh Bilpo (.432) and
Haley Mitchell (.417) are above .400 at the plate.
EVERYONE PICKS UP A WIN
The Monarchs pitching staff, comprised of three right-handed arms, all picked up wins last week!
Allison Vogt won the opener over OCC, while
Katelynn Fraser came on to secure the win against Mott and
Grace Dzikowski earned a pair of wins, one each against OCC and SC4. Dzikowski leads the talented trio in wins with five (5-1).
INSIDE THE 21-RUN OUTBURST
The Monarchs exploded for 21 runs on 23 hits thanks in large part to a 16-run sixth inning in Saturday's 21-8 victory at SC4.
Ally Prasnjak and
Brynn Beyer both hit a home run and a double in the game, while
Carleigh Bilpo and
Katie Thomas hit their first homers of the season.
Zoe Hunt paced the team in hits with four with a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate.
A LOOK AT: HENRY FORD
The Hawks of Henry Ford College enter the week with a 1-5 mark in the MCCAA Eastern Conference and a 1-10 record overall. Despite the 1-10 overall record, the Hawks are currently flying high after picking up their first win of the campaign their last time out with an 11-1 victory over OCC. The Hawks are hitting .270 as a team through 11 games and currently have a strong team ERA of 3.77.
A LOOK AT: OCC
The Oakland Community College Raiders check in with a 3-12 record overall and a 2-4 record in MCCAA Eastern Conference play as of April 1. The Raiders' record is deceiving as the team from Auburn Hills has played numerous tight games, including a pair of close contests at Macomb last week where the Monarchs pulled away late for a 6-1 win and held on for a 7-6 victory. The Raiders enter the week with a .240 team batting average.
A LOOK AT: SCHOOLCRAFT
The Schoolcraft College Ocelots enter the month of April with a 1-5 record in conference play and a 7-9 overall mark. The Ocelots won their most recent outing, a 14-0 decision of SC4 on March 29 to earn their first conference victory of the 2024 campaign. As a team, the Ocelots are hitting .327 on the season and have posted a 5.87 team ERA.
