BY THE NUMBERS: 2
The play of
Savanna Clark continued to be a bright spot for Macomb Softball despite a pair of setbacks at Mott on Tuesday. Clark recorded seven hits in the doubleheader to push her batting average to a team-best .456 on the season. Impressively, Clark has reached base safely in all but
two (2) games she has started this season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 7
As part of a balanced attack,
seven (7) Monarchs have driven in 10 or more runs this season, led by the tandem of
Sydney Urban and
Ally Prasnjak who have recorded 31 and 27 RBIs, respectively.
Brynn Beyer checks in with 17 RBIs, while
Katelyn Thomas (16),
Carleigh Bilpo (14),
Haley Mitchell (13) and
Savanna Clark (11) follow closely.
AHEAD THIS WEEK (AND NEXT)
Mother Nature has thrown off our game notes cadence as games have been shifted across the calendar. Here's where we stand for the next seven days (some regularly scheduled games and some makeup): Friday - home vs. SC4, 3 PM; Saturday - home vs. OCC, 1 PM; Monday - at SC4, 5 PM (single makeup game); Tuesday - at Henry Ford, 3 PM (makeup doubleheader).
BALANCED OFFENSIVELY
The offense has continued its strong pace and enters the week with a MCCAA-best team batting average of .358 and are led by
Savanna Clark's .456 average.
Ally Prasnjak is next at .444 with a team-leading .864 slugging percentage, while
Carleigh Bilpo follows in the .400 club at .429 to accompany her team-high .532 on-base percentage. Clark also leads the team on the base paths with 19 stolen bases (19-21).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Back-to-back! Congrats (once again) to sophomore infielder
Katelyn Thomas for earning MCCAA East Player of the Week honors! Thomas earned her second honor in as many weeks by hitting a home run and driving in three runs while hitting .500, recording a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Freshman right-handed pitcher
Grace Dzikowski continued her season-long ascension last week and for her efforts was named MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week! Grace earned the honor by tossing a complete-game, two-hitter with a career-high nine strikeouts in a 3-2 win over Henry Ford! Dzikowski's record is 8-3 on the season.
A LOOK AT: SC4
One of the most improved teams in the conference since last season, the Skippers of St. Clair County Community College enter the week with a 7-8 mark in the MCCAA East and a 12-19 record overall. The Skippers lost their lone previous meeting of the season with Macomb, a 21-8 setback back on March 30. The Skippers are hitting .333 as a team this season.
FINAL MEETING WITH THE RAIDERS
This weekend's doubleheader with OCC truly is the final meeting with the Raiders...not only this season, but forever. OCC isn't going anywhere, but the "Raiders" name is as the school announced in recent months they will be known as the OCC Owls beginning in the 2024-25 athletic year. As for this year's Raiders, the team enters the week 4-12 in league play and 5-20 overall with one of those wins coming against Macomb.
MORE SUNSHINE PLEASE
While Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on schedules across the state, including ours, there may be no other doubleheader/series more impacted than when Macomb and Henry Ford attempt to play. After a series of postponements, the Monarchs are scheduled to visit Heritage Park in Taylor on Tuesday (April 23) at 3 p.m. to take on Henry Ford.
